This World We Live In challenges the social construct of masculinity through the story of Joey, a young man navigating a new city while hiding his sexuality from those around him. As Joey’s inner turmoil intensifies, so does his reckless behaviour, building towards inevitable peril. A provocative and twisted short film that aims to bring light to one of the darkest issues that face the gay community, the film confronts the practice of chemsex and the dangerous spiral of repression and addiction. This World We Live In is the first instalment of the ODYSSEY, a series of short films to commemorate the 50th anniversary of decriminalisation of homosexuality in the UK in 2017.
